MERCATOR HOLDS GLOBAL EVENT IN DUBAI

DUBAI: More than 160 guests attended mercator's Customer Forum held recently in Dubai. Customers came from all corners of the globe to give product feedback to mercator - the market facing entity of the Emirates Group IT (EG-IT) division.

The attendees, mercator's customers, included award winning major carriers and low-cost, regional and hybrid airlines. Air New Zealand, Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways, Virgin Atlantic, United Airlines, JetBlue Airways, Qatar Airways, Flydubai, Gulf Air and Ethiopian Airlines were just some of their customers in attendance.

The three-day event was held in Dubai from 8-10 November. An intimate and captivating address by Sir Maurice Flanagan, Executive Vice Chairman of Emirates Airline & Group and a gala dinner at the iconic Burj Al Arab ballroom formed part of the event programme, designed to inspire.

With this being the first major global customer event held since mercator Asia was established - the forum provided the opportunity for mercator's Bangkok-based staff to interact with customers.

During the event, mercator announced new business deals with Air Niugini - the national airline of Papua New Guinea and largest international and domestic carrier in the South Pacific - as well as Oman Air.

Patrick Naef, Divisional Senior Vice President EG-IT, said: "The key objective of the event was to hear from customers on their existing and future needs. Their feedback will be used to drive product development and strategy. It's assuring to know that our customers feel mercator is on track. The feedback on both our products and the event has been positive. Our customers' perceptions of mercator, and their level of satisfaction, directly impact our business and are reflected on our bottom line."

HCL INFOSYSTEMS MEA PARTNERS WITH MERCATOR TO MANAGE IT INFRASTRUCTURE FOR FLYDUBAI

DUBAI: HCL Infosystems, India's premier ICT system integration, hardware and services company, announced that it has reached agreement with mercator, the IT division of the Emirates Group, to manage IT infrastructure for Flydubai. HCL will provide IT infrastructure for hosting services through mercator,s data centers.

mercator will host Flydubai's applications through a private virtual cloud spanning two data centers and will manage communication links to access to access externally hosted services.

HCL will provide, manage and support all end user devices and services for Flydubai. This multi-million dirham agreement will benefit Flydubai with optimized provisioning of critical IT services like check-in, departure control, network planning, flight & crew operations, aircraft maintenance and other back office systems. The association will also ensure complete management of the infrastructure, day-to-day operations, vendors, connectivity and capacity.

Mr. Fayyaz Alam, Vice President, Production Services for mercator, said, "The partnership with HCL will enable us to deliver a robust infrastructure platform that will enable Flydubai to bring in new IT services and scale up the existing IT systems in line with their growth plans.
