|MERCATOR STRENGTHENS PARTNERSHIP WITH CANADIAN CARRIER, WESTJET
DUBAI, U.A.E., 15 May 2012 - mercator, the airline IT solutions provider of the Emirates Group, continues to strengthen its presence in the North American market. WestJet, Canada's preferred airline, offering scheduled service throughout its 76-city North American and Caribbean network, currently uses mercator's RAPID solution to manage the airline's revenue accounting.
The carrier, which pioneered low-cost flying in Canada has been inducted into Canada's Most Admired Corporate Cultures Hall of Fame and named one of the country's best employers. With future confirmed deliveries for an additional 37 aircraft to add to its fleet - WestJet strives to be one of the five most successful international airlines in the world.
mercator has recently assisted the airline with its fare audit service, enabling WestJet to significantly reduce costs and recover revenue. The service enables the airline to detect and prevent fare violations, incorrect fees, fictitious names and other illegal fare mishandling.
In a nut shell, the fare audit software makes an airline 'more intelligent'. An airline learns from mishandling patterns and is able to detect and prevent them in a timely and efficient manner. This prevents violations, enabling smooth tax and sales processes and significantly easier revenue recovery.
WestJet has been using mercator's technologies since 2008. Vice President Controller for the airline, Robert Palmer commented that "mercator provided us with a complete revenue accounting solution. It was the total package that included revenue accounting as well as the outsourcing fare audit solution."
